Towards Deplomacy in the Balkans, i.e. an idea for some more networking against the state narratives and for the immediate communication of the peoples
*1. Why do we need an international anti-nationalist network ?*
Actually we don't, in the sense that fighting nationalism is effective mostly if you combat your own country's dominant 'self'-representations. BUT still we miss some insight about struggles that occur just outside our national ground. That would be useful in order (i) to compare dominant strategies and practices of resistance in every side of the walls and thus (ii) to get more ideas about ways of de-constructing widespread beliefs of rage and suspiciousness, while enjoying the whole thing at the same time.
*2. What to fight internationally?*
Our blessed national states are still competing with each other at military, financial, diplomatic and discursive means. Despite their supposed engagement in collaboration and peaceful management of their relationships, this ongoing competition leads sometimes to crises of various levels. Thanks to the sedulousness of our capitalist classes, as well as of our civic and military bureaucrats, middle or even major conflicts do not yet belong to the past. This antagonism and these crises are not ours.
*3. When to fight?*
We need an instrument to express our opposition to the dominant narcissisms that end in hostility and suffering. We need therefore to undermine our/'our' nationalist discourses when they poison our everyday
practices-political actions-existences-ways of thinking-… and certainly when they (make them) turn out to episodes of massive hysteria. We need to fight the regular low-tension wars and get prepared to resist any irregular attempt they make to capitalize on that.
*4. How to act?*
The multitude of the responses depends of course on our inventions,
creativity and strength. However, it would be perfect at the moment to establish a textual capacity against their written, spoken and implied texts. There are millions of such texts, including their brainwashing machines in the schools, the media shit, pop stars crying for the rights of
the nation, the monumental equipment of our cities, our attitudes against
foreign citizens living in the interior and so on. Just to begin with something, it would be a cheerful trial to comment state agents talking
about war and peace, migration, rights, citizenship, policy and policing,
and history. What we need is to establish a structure similar to that of an
observatory, to be sure that we don't miss important appearances of
nationalism and competition in governmental decisions, in the press, in
political parties' texts etc.
*5. What about organization?*
OK, no hierarchy, no concentration, no formal legal status. Hereafter, a
network needs parts, while being more than their sum. Or even less than
that: no general agreement should be requested for two groups or individuals or less than individuals to be deplomats of their two countries.
*Trans*nationalism instead of *inter*nationalism sounds good, too.
*6. What innovative means to use?*
There are not innovative means other than those we use to innovate. Till
then, a blog would do its job. Some still like printed documents because of
their ability to grow old. Some like English, while others strongly prefer to use their mother tongue, if it is to attack their fatherland. Our countries normally have the advantage to meet each other in 'triangular' borderlands, ideal places to put a tent once per year.
*7. Do I need to ask something else?*
It seems interesting to hear how a multi/trans-vocal 'No' echoes when our
leaders and bosses and their satellites get (more) aggressive with each
other. First of all, for the very consequences of the refusal, even at a
small scale. Moreover, for the experiment of de-mediated communication
